Two Too Fast

If you had told me a year ago that my baby girl would be out of diapers, out of a crib and speaking to me in sentences by her next birthday, I would have thought you were crazy. Yet, here I am, coming off the high of celebrating this big milestone for our little princess and she has already accomplished all of these things. Yet, I feel a tug my at heart and a lump in my throat.

How has two years already passed? It was just yesterday that she was giving me a toothless grin in her exersaucer or tottering around, terrifying me with every move. I feel like a basket case as a mom half the time because of the number of emotions I experience on a daily basis. We often look at the number of different thoughts that race through a toddlers mind in a minute; a mom’s mind probably isn’t far off. One minute, I’m exhausted. The next I’m crying tears at laughter over this little blessing and wishing the minutes would be hours instead of the opposite. I have a feeling all those minutes counted down until our 8:30 p.m. bedtime I’ll want back.

This has been a big year for her. She learned to walk, started drinking solely from cups, uses silverware, can talk on the phone, can remember and call friends and family by names, she uses the potty – just to name a few. Though I’m sad about the days flying by, it is incredible to see her develop into her own little person.

You can easily see how much has changed in these two Happy Birthday videos. I guess time flies when you are having fun.

Elle is such a beautiful little girl. She's sooo smart as well! I know it doesn't hurt she has such a great and loving family either!! I love to see her progress and so glad we have all these outlets to keep up with each other. You really nailed it with this post about the range of emotions. Helps me know i'm not the only one out there feeling that way. Maybe it's hormones, but It just makes me feel happy/teary to see our little ones knowing we've known each other since those same ages. :) Happy 2nd Birthday Elle!
