Win it: HALO Sleep Sack (Any Style/Color/Fabric)

Anyone who has purchased a sleep sack is familiar with HALO, and for good reason. Their sacks are soft, cute, practical and affordable. What you may not know is Bill Schmid, the man behind HALO, began the sleep sack movement with the creation of the first wearable blanket after he lost his daughter to SIDS (Sudden infant death syndrome) in 1991. So heartbreaking.HALO SleepSack Baby

According to HALO sleep experts, you should stop swaddling your baby when he/she shows signs of starting to roll over (around 4 months) and transition to a sleep sack. My Beth didn’t begin all this rolling over constantly until recently but we transitioned her to a sleep sack around 3 months because she seemed over the swaddle. To wean from the swaddle, HALO recommends starting by swaddling with one arm in and one arm out. Then, swaddle with both arms out before finally transitioning to the SleepSack.

For some tips on how to best protect your child some SIDS, check out these on HALO’s website.

HALO is giving away one of its super comfy SleepSacks in the color/style/fabric of the winner’s choice! There are a wide variety of colors, patterns (polka dot, disney themed) and fabrics such as organic cotton, fleece, etc. You can see all styles/choices at I have two: one lightweight and one heavy and love them both. They are super soft! If you’re eager to purchase your own sack, they are now available at Target.

We start our bedtime routine with pjs and brushing teeth, then read a couple stories and turn on some lullabies

My favorite part of our bedtime routine (if you can call it a routine at only six weeks old) is when she falls asleep against me while I'm nursing her. I love being all cuddly with Lilly!

My baby will be here in November so we don't have a routine yet. I can't wait to start one though!

June 13, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

As first time expectant parents, we don't have a bedtime routine yet! But my all-time favorite with my niece and nephew has always been stories and then praying together. We're expecting for November! :0)

I like you on Facebook already. :-)
We have a slightly different bedtime routine than most other families. At 8:00 we strip Baby down to his diaper. First Mommy takes a quick shower while Daddy holds Baby, then Baby and Daddy join Mommy. Daddy washes off, then Mommy and Daddy wash Baby. He loves the skin-to-skin time, and he's usually falling asleep by the end of the shower. After the shower, we put a fresh diaper on Baby and put him in his PJ's. He's usually very sleepy at this point, and I take him into our room and nurse/rock him to sleep, then lay him in his bassinet with his soothe and glow seahorse nearby. Eventually the seahorse turns itself off, and Baby is out cold. We've done this since the day we brought him home.

I didn't see your remark til now about not having to do a separate post for Liking you on Facebook... sorry! Our bedtime routine for oldest (age 4) is Daddy does bath (every 2nd night), brush teeth, PJs, a book, a story (made up, no book), a couple of songs, and then a bit of snuggling with Mommy while he tells me all about his day. Bedtime routine for youngest (11 weeks) is simpler... wash face/hands/bum, doubled up cloth diaper & PJ's on, breastfeed, burp, swaddle, sleep (and usually a bit of finger crossing at the last step til it sticks)

I love reading to my son. I love watching my babies sleep its peaceful. Our second son is due in august.

Our bedtime routine starts by turning some relaxing music while daddy sings and dances with Sofia. Mommy prepares bath or washing materials (we bathe Sofia every other day and wash hands/face when she doesn't get a bath) and then we bathe or wash her. We then put a new diaper and we all read "Good night moon" together, daddy and mommy alternate pages and we specially like when we both get to say "hush" and she smiles. Mommy then prepares milk for Sofia while daddy keeps singing and dancing. Daddy feeds Sofia (mommy has been feeding her all day so daddy wants to be part of feedings too). She usually falls asleep in daddy's arms, daddy burps and rocks her for a while, mommy gets swaddle and bed ready, we then swaddle and rock some more. We give each a kiss to her and get her to bed. Mommy likes watching Sofia sleep for a bit before we leave the room.

Well, I have a 7 week old baby girl so I am hoping our bedtime routine will last. :) I put my baby in her sleeper, swaddle her, and nurse her. When she is finished nursing I lay her in bed and she usually falls asleep quickly on her own. The past few weeks it has been neat to listen to her "talk" to herself before falling asleep.

My favorite (and my 11 week old's fav) is the moment after I get her out of the tub, we play peek-a-boo with her towel while I'm drying her off, she smiles and has even started to laugh a little. I lotion her up real good before putting her pj's on and then we rock in the glider and read a is the absolute favorite part of my day.

I have a 6 weeks old baby - Gia. Our bedtime routine starts with playing relaxing music(Pandora lullaby).
I give Gia a gentle massage n tummy exercises. After which my husband gives her a bath. This is our family bonding time n we look forward to it.
Once done, we change n swaddle her.
I feed her and then rock her to sleep. Then put her in her crib n kiss her good night :)

Our baby is due in December, so we don't have a routine yet. But when he or she arrives, our routine will definitely include lots of stories and cuddle time.
