Win It! Bébé Au Lait Nursing Cover

In honor of World Breastfeeding Awareness Month, we are giving away a Bébé Au Lait nursing cover

These things are great! They help you nurse in public without the fear of perverted or prying eyes. Even though I am finished nursing, I still carry mine in my diaper bag. It works great as a quick blanket or towel in a pinch.

The whackiest place I ever used my nursing cover was in The Louvre. I pumped my way through a trip to France with my husband when Baby Mo was 6 months old so that my milk wouldn't dry up. We had to ocassionally stop so that I didn't explode and half way through our visit to the famous museum, I decided to pump on a bench right outside the room that holds the Mona Lisa. A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do!

If you would like a Hooter Hider, or know a mommy who would, here is what to do:

  • Like us on Facebook
  • Post a comment in the comments section of this post (not on Facebook) about the whackiest place that you have nursed or seen someone nursing.
  • NOTE: you must leave your email when you comment. It will be kept private and not shared with anyone. We need it to alert the winner. Entries without emails will be disqualified.

Deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. EDT, Thursday, August 18. Rules and regulations found here.

The whackiest place I've ever nursed was when my son (who just turned two) was about a month old. My father-in-law was retiring from the Air Force and had a retirement ceremony at UCF, where he was the commander of the Air Force ROTC program. My son was feeding every 1-2 hours during the day, so I put on the cover and nursed him while I sang the Star Spangled Banner!

I'm a new momma, so I haven't done anything too crazy, but I don't have air conditioning so I regularly go to a coffee shop to feed my munchkin. The best part is they have a "real" changing table in their restroom so it is such a great environment. Not wacky, but cool!

The craziest place Ihave had to nurse is on an airplane! It is so crowded and so many people watching!

I once saw a woman breastfeed on an escalator at the mall. Hopefully I can win this cover to use with my son, who is due 11/11/11. :)

I never had a nursing cover with my first, so I would always nurse wherever I could but just use a receiving blanket to cover up. I remember I'd always nurse in the car, the backseat, with a blanket covering the window and another over nursing baby. Now with baby #2 on the way, a nursing cover would be great! :)

Nicole, LOL! The Star Spangled Banner! Love it! The escalator makes me laugh too.

I just had my first baby a few weeks ago, so I haven't been out and about to nurse in any crazy places yet, but I'm looking forward to it!

My baby is due this December and I'm quite excited! I've already "liked" MommyBeta on FB and it's been fun following along!

I don't have my own crazy story to tell you yet, but I did see a lady who was nursing in a cafe one time. Then all of the suddent, the baby got fussy and decided to pull the sling away from her mommy, exposing her chest! The mom's eyes nearly jumped out of her sockets. I don't know what happened next because I turned away so she could have some privacy. I guess she should have used a Bébé Au Lait Nursing Cover instead of a sling. ;)

I haven't done it in a wacky place, but the most difficult place was definitely an airplane. I could have used a nursing cover!

So far my wife has had to nurse in the backseat of the car. She hasn't attempted to do it in an overly public place, but we have a plane trip coming up soon, so there will be no way around it there.

The craziest and most awkward place I've seen a woman breast feed is in the row behind me on an airplane - the child was about 1.5, she wore no cover up at all and let it all hang out! I will definitely try to be a bit more modest with my little one. She needed a nursing cover or a blanket!

Hi! My husband and are are TTC and I am huge BFing supporter! Yesterday I took my dogs to the dog park and there was a woman BFing in the park, in the middle of a pack of dogs! It made my day!

The place I saw someone nurse was a bench at the mall in front of Sears. The whackiest thing about it was that she wasn't covered up and EVERYTHING was showing! And all these lookie-loo's were stopping to stare.

I'm expecting my first (due in January!), so I haven't breastfed anywhere yet (let alone anywhere wacky), but the wackiest place I ever saw someone breastfeeding was the Target parking lot. She was walking to her car while her older child pushed the cart and was breastfeeding - talk about multi-tasking! I was really impressed!

My baby had a traumatic enterance into the world and because of the time in the NICU never took to the breast. However, I did pump milk for her exclusively for 6 months. I pumped in the backseat of a car (parked and a few times moving), the restroom at the mall and at the homes of family members. The wackiest was at 3 am one morning where I pumped and feed my caught a bottle at the same time.

I once saw a woman start nursing on a gondola up to a tea house on a mountain. I'm planning on breast feeding my baby. I'll be a new mom in March and I am super nervous about managing this in public... I won't be as brave as this lady to bare all in public.

I realized I missed the giveaway, but I just listened to latest podcast and it got me reminiscing. thought I'd share 2 funny stories. One was mine... I tried to nurse my 8mo at a dog shelter! We went to an adoptathon weekend and had our eye on a particular puppy. we didn't get there in time so while we were waiting to see if the other family would take him, My LO started getting fussy. I really wanted that dog so I found a quite corner and tried to nurse. My son was too fussy to latch on so we went out to the car, and he wouldn't latch on there either. we finally drove all the way home, sat in our usual feeding spot and he ate like a champ. Of course, by the time we returned to the pound, our puppy was no longer available, but at least we tried.

The other: I did a 5K stroller walk and early on in the race, I passed a new mom who was nursing WHILE WALKING. She didn't use a cover, just let her jacket do the hiding, but I was impressed. She didn't miss a beat and just carried her LO in her arms as a friend helped out by pushing the empty stroller. This woman won the race in my mind on moral victory alone :)
